| UPDATING>>>>>>>>
Two posts ago was Sunday, October 30, 2005! Two posts ago was my
last day off from Disney! That's right 7 days a week!! Boy am I
tired...it should finally (fingers crossed) start slowing down now that
the A Christmas Fantasy Parade has opened (yesterday!!). It's soo
weird performing a new role...a role I have performed before, but man
alive, it is tough!! I seriously do not understand how I was able to
perform as the dopemeister for soo long...It is sooo tiring!!
Hopefully my body will adjust soon!! So other than working 7 days
a week, rehearsals, and bungee (well that's all Disney stuff), life is
good...I started tinkering around to record some music (finally), I
have three and a half weeks left in my Bio class (then that little
paper called a degree is mine!!!), and I finally got my headshots
done!! I should have the prints in a couple weeks...I'll update my
photos here or on my MySpace Page...www.myspace.com/celebrityqueen
Well, the sleepy syndrome is calling...I'll update again soon...I promise!!

| So here's the news about the lead stuff...I received a phone call a few
days ago from one of our department managers, and she said she had good
news. So she said, "We're going to continue to pay you the current lead
rate which is $13.45, and when it changes we're going to fight for you
guys." SO that's awesome...it's still a pay cut from doing
bungee, but because it is more hours it will balance out and be a
little bit more. If necessary, and I still think once I am
eventually a full-fledged lead, we will fight for our rights.
Peace Out!
Desi
P.S. wonderdrummer, D can be out...there was a hyphen so it separated
the two words. D-out, not dout (doubt) because D don't doubt yo!!

| It's been a while...
Lead training is complete and they will begin scheduling us in these
positions. We were trained on both Block Party Bash (which is
like a kid with attention deficit disorder) and Parade of Dreams.
I did not realize how much responsibility is involved in the lead
role. Now that I am a lead, if I need something done (even if I'm
just doing my bungee shift) many of the leads allow me to accomplish
the feat by myself. They still help of course, but now I don't
have to wait for someone else to do what I am capable of
completing. Now the new lead staff is comprised of highly
talented and qualified individuals. Our duties are no different
than many of our senior leads, but corporate has decided to make a
resortwide change (again) regarding our pay. They have
decided that we are only deserving in a dollar more than our base
rate (for me that'd be $9.21+1.00=$10.21). Now, the problem with
that is, we all have varying base rates--we'll all be doing the same
thing, so we will not be getting paid equally. I know many of you
know the duties of stage managers and assistant stage managers--a
parade lead is an asm (just not paid like one) with duties that range
from setting the role, giving performance assessments, setting up
rehearsal schedules, dealing with performer and or guest complaints or
issues, maintaining open communication with Managers, Stage Managers,
Costuming, Technical Support, and also with other departments to make
surei the route is set for the Parade...and this is only some
backstage responsibility. On route, the Lead is the eyes and ears
for the Parade one, communicating to Audio about ill-working speakers,
downed light poles, unlit Parcans--communicating about issues with
lighting, costuming, keeping guests out of the street, helping
performers in need etc. So I guess all I'm saying is that a
Parade Lead has so many responsibilities (worth much more than 10.21
per hour. A change BTW that came after we accepted our positions) and
you better believe that Corporate has not heard the last of this issue.
We will fight for justice, we will fight for what's right, and we will
fight for more pay!! It is going to be an uphill battle, but we cannot
let them walk all over us without at least trying to seek
justice...I'll keep u posted.
Peace!!
D-Out!

| Hey Y'all,
So I turned in my resume and application for Disney...here's the
deal...STILL WAITING!! There were phone calls made this week to a few
people who will not get interviews and were not what the management was
looking for. No call for me...good and bad (the waiting thing :)
) and I probably won't find anything out until next week now because of
the Christmas Parade audition (Sat for Guys, Sun for Gals). As
always, if it takes me a few days, I will keep you posted.
So, I visited VU the other day for coffee with Miss J. Heath, and ran
into a few peeps on campus--it was such a delight to have seen those I
saw. Please keep in touch with me..miss ya all...well anyway, it
was so nice to be on campus and not have class, I really did not feel
like I was supposed to be there, I guess I really did graduate.
Hmm...One funny thing when I went to the costume closet, they actually
to get me to work . Fortunately, I had to be at work...anywho, that was my short visit to VU.
Anywho, love to all...Mr. Drummer man, check this, my little cuz mikey is going to start drumming for his jr high band!!
Adios
